Dickinson Area Community Foundation Areas of Impact

The Dickinson Area Community Foundation is the steward for creating endowments by making meaningful connections and managing endowments for positive, local community impacts forever.

The community foundation serves so much of our community. From $500 Community Impact Grants to Scholarships of all sizes to major gifts, it ties the fabric of our community together, promoting a sense of community across fields of interest, nonprofit agencies, and schools.

Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency

The kitchen that the Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency (DICSA) used to make home-delivered meals became unusable. The agency began looking for other options, but all were too expensive and not a good fit for their needs.

A board member suggested looking at a space in the lower level of their main office, as a couple of suites were underutilized. The initial discovery determined the space would be suitable for a commercial kitchen.

The next question was, how do they get the money for this project?

The first thing Executive Director Kristin Sommerfield did was reach out to Tamara Juul at Dickinson Area Community Foundation. They wrote up a proposal of what it would look like and the need. Through its relationships with donors, DACF secured $300,000 for the project, giving it the green light to go ahead and start construction.

The new kitchen now covers Meals on Wheels for all of Dickinson and Iron Counties.

Habitat for Humanity – Menominee River

Construction materials being delivered and getting rained on, the wrong tools on the construction site, and multiple trailers never at the right construction site are just a few of the frustrations Habitat for Humanity - Menominee River was experiencing.

With funds from the Dickinson Area Community Foundation, the organization purchased a large trailer to store construction materials on site while building homes.

By pairing the right donor and endowment with Habitat for Humanity, DACF has helped secure the funding they need to continue serving families in our area with home repairs and with homeownership.

The Dickinson Area Community Foundation impacts so many lives in different ways. Years from now, your wishes, your interests, and your involvement in the community will be forever.
